How to Prepare a Delicious Chicken Biryani Recipe: A Step-by-Step Guide

Introduction

Ingredients

  • 2 cups basmati rice

  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt

  • 1/4 cup chopped mint leaves
  • 4 cups water
  • 4 tablespoons ghee

Instructions

1. Wash the basmati rice under cold running water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for 30 minutes, then drain.

2. Heat 2 tablespoons of ghee in a large pot over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until golden brown.

3. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the pot and cook for another minute.

4. Add the chicken pieces to the pot and cook until they are browned on all sides.

5. Stir in the chopped tomatoes, green chilies, biryani masala powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook for 5 minutes until the tomatoes are soft.

6. In a separate pan, heat the remaining 2 tablespoons of ghee. Add the soaked and drained rice and sauté for 2 minutes.

7. Add the sautéed rice to the pot with the chicken and spices. Pour in the water and bring it to a boil.

8. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid, and let it simmer for 20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the chicken is tender.

9. Once the biryani is done, remove it from heat and let it rest for 10 minutes. Garnish with chopped cilantro and mint leaves.
